Due to the definition of Dystopia which is an imagined state or society in which there is great suffering or injustice, typically one that is totalitarian or post-apocalyptic, I referred to the book 1984 by George Orwell as the concept of my design. The book has become a classic literary example of political and dystopian fiction. In the year 1984, civilization has been damaged by war, civil conflict, and revolution. In addition, there were four ministries in the book which works exactly in opposite way if their name, as an explanation, The Ministry of Peace deals with war and defense, The Ministry of Plenty deals with economic affairs (rationing and starvation), The Ministry of Love deals with law and order (torture and brainwashing), The Ministry of Truth deals with news, entertainment, education and art (propaganda).
Furthermore, a love story happens in the book that lovers face many challenges as a result of the risks of government overreach, totalitarianism, and repressive regimentation of all persons and behaviors within society. My color pallet originated from the feelings which each holds one part of the story itself. Firstly, the matt red color is the representation of the difficulties of love; the white one is the symbol of pure love. Likewise, the designed mask holds the meaning of the hidden look of the lover which at the same time represents the fear and apprehension (pyramid volumes as spear).
Since the given materials were the combination of checkered fabric and Jean, I decided to make use of torn jeans that can better represent the ravage and mist, moreover the layered design of the skin is to put an emphasis on the ruins, debris, and leftovers.
